I’m Rory. I am a therapist based in Bedford, Nova Scotia.
As a client-centered therapist, I help individuals navigate a range of challenges, including stress, life transitions, self-injury, depression, anxiety, ADHD management, suicide, and men’s issues. I am also interested in working with individuals from high-stress occupations such as doctors and veterinarians.
I am a Registered Counselling Therapist with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists and a Registered Professional Counsellor with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association. I completed a 2-year supervised candidacy before becoming fully-licensed, and I continually invest in professional development and maintain professional memberships and liability insurance. I completed a degree with honours in psychology, as well as graduate coursework in counselling theories, assessment, and ethics.
My passion for mental health started with online support groups for individuals struggling with depression, self-injury, suicidal thoughts, and eating disorders. During my university years, I saw the potential of the internet as a platform for delivering therapy and after my internship I spent 5 years as a counsellor with an online on-demand therapy platform.
I am a board member of the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association and currently serve as the Vice President of the Board, and Chair of the Governance Committee. I strictly adhere to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice set by the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association and the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists.
Outside of mental health, I have worked as a data analyst and researcher in the gaming and simulation training industries, and in healthcare.
