Registered Professional Counsellor
I am a Registered Professional Counsellor registered with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association. I completed a 2-year supervised candidacy with a CPCA-approved supervisor to obtain full licensure. Additionally, I complete regular professional development training and maintain professional membership and liability insurance within my profession. I completed a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in psychology, and completed graduate coursework in assessment, counselling, and professional ethics.
I view counselling as a collaborative process between the client and Counsellor, where we both work to achieve your goals and bring about the changes you want to see in your life. One of the first questions in counselling is 'What are you hoping to achieve in counselling?'
I began working in mental health through several online support groups for people who struggled with depression, self-injury, suicidal thoughts, and eating disorders. During my senior year of university I became interested in the potential of the using the internet as a platform for delivering counselling.
Outside of mental health I have worked as a user researcher for a multinational video game company, worked as a uniformed security guard, and currently work as a data analyst in the video game industry. I also have a passion for research and conduct research in various areas of psychology.
